The Rabbis for Human Rights Yeshiva

A program combining weekly study and volunteer fieldwork for Israeli University students promoting Jewish values in defense of human rights

stipends

"..The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they who do his commandments.."
Psalms 111:10

The stipend is an essential part of the program: Students in Israel generally begin University studies after army service and time off for travel and work, making them significantly older than their fellow students in North America. Most are financially independent and live in apartments off-campus, work nights to support themselves, and devote summer earnings to cover tuition. Married students are not uncommon. Males often serve reserve army duty a month or more each year. The economic and security situation in the country has affected the student population particularly.

RHR’s Yeshiva program attracts motivated and capable students. It is essential that we make their participation possible by providing a stipend. The stipend is calculated according to the government sponsored “Perach” program scholarships, adjusted for the Beit Midrash’s additional time demands. Students receive $ 1,500 for some 180 hours of study and volunteer work over the school year.
